Sources of Information- Task 3C

I have listed the 5 most important sources of information and their importance to my past, present and future professional practice.

Internet search engines-
Currently I use the internet, more specifically Google, to search new make-up techniques or colours to use suitable for my eye colour and skin tone. Also finding different hairstyles giving me opportunity to try what looks good on me and use the information in the show. In my professional practice this show my maturity as an artist to current and future employers. When searching for auditions the company website provides the email address which are easily found to correspond with the casting director.

Social media-
Facebook has a group called 'The Hustle' where auditions are posted and people can leave comments by anyone who is a member of the group. I decided this group would be more beneficial if I lived in London as some of the jobs are 'urgent dancer needed for tomorrow' I was not close enough to commute last minute. The features of Web 2.0 allows me to search the company productions visually on YouTube or Instagram to deliberate if I 'fit the mould of the company' seeing my relevancy and castability for the job. Companies are creating a 'company page' to promote which theatres they are performing in, where they travel to and what choreographies they are performing.

Friends-
Oxford dictionary defines a friend as 'A person with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically one exclusive of sexual or family relations.' Helping and learning from each others experiences with a person you have a mutual affection with (a fellow dancer at work) where you share information about what worked well and was enjoyable or what didn't go to plan and should be avoided. This applies from the simplest of things like, what was a good lunch to eat for energy in the show to where is a good dance studio to take class and create new professional networks. I learn from my friends experiences every day.

Subscriptions to email listings-
I am currently subscribed to Network Dance, Dancing Opportunities, The Stage and any company subscriptions from previous audition applications. These sources send emails weekly or even daily, it is a free way to receive job auditions in my inbox, this saves time and is easily accessible on a phone or laptop. (The network is doing the work of searching for jobs for me)

Colleagues/ Teachers
I trust in my teachers (past or current) because they have 'experienced the industry' their wisdom shapes who I am as a dancer, artist and performer. All of my current colleagues trained in different institutes and worked in a range of different jobs yet now in this moment we are all dancing the exact same show. I learn and am able to establish networks through my colleagues and learn about a range of different job opportunities in the industry.

In conclusion this task was a way for me to identify the impact of these sources and how I can develop the usability of them.
